Dieser Sektor umfasst alle unsere Stellenangebote auf dem Gebiet der Finanzderivate – auch für Absolventen und Trainees. Dazu zählen Stellenangebote im Bereich Sales von Derivaten, Derivate-Analysen, Derivate-Structuring, Credit-Derivate, Equity-Derivate, Derivate-Trading, Programmierung und andere Derivate-Berufe in London, Frankfurt, Zürich und weltweit.
Bei Finanzderivaten handelt es sich im Grunde um Verträge zwischen zwei Parteien. Diese Verträge legen fest, dass der Wert des fraglichen Derivats von Änderungen anderer Variablen bestimmt wird. Diese Variablen sind entweder Finanzprodukte wie Aktien und Anleihen, physische Produkte wie Rohstoffe oder andere Anlageklassen.
Derivate werden häufig zur Risikoabsicherung verwendet. Beispielsweise legen Credit Default Swaps (CDS) fest, dass im Fall eines Kreditausfalls der Inhaber des CDS eine Entschädigung erhält.
Die frühesten Formen der Derivate waren Terminkontrakte (Futures). Diese wurden konzipiert, um Käufern von Materialien eine gewisse Kontrolle über den zukünftigen Preis zu geben. So schlossen Bauern, die Weizen verkauften, einen Vertrag mit den Käufern des Weizens ab, in dem sie vereinbarten, dass sie den Weizen in drei Monaten zu einem vorher festgelegten Preis verkaufen könnten, womit sie sich gegen das Risiko eines zwischenzeitlichen Preiskollapses beim Weizen absichern konnten.
Andere einfache Formen von Derivaten sind Swaps und Optionen. Swaps ermöglichen den einfachen Austausch einer Produktart gegen eine andere. Zu den beliebtesten zählen dabei Devisen-Swaps, bei denen Kredite und/oder Zinszahlungen für diese Kredite aus einer Währung in die andere umgetauscht werden.
Optionen sind Verträge, die es einer Partei ermöglichen, einer anderen Partei Anlagengüter zu einem spezifischen Preis und zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt zu verkaufen. Anders als bei Terminkontrakten gibt es keine Verpflichtung zur Wahrnehmung eines Optionskontrakts (es ist freigestellt) – der Käufer hat das Recht, drei Tonnen Weizen zum Preis X zu kaufen, wenn es finanziell sinnvoll ist, er ist aber nicht dazu verpflichtet, wenn es nicht sinnvoll sein sollte. Inhaber von Optionen müssen eine Prämie für dieses Privileg zahlen.
Optionen, die das Recht zum Kauf einer Sache einräumen, werden „Call-Optionen“ genannt. Optionen, die das Recht zum Verkauf einräumen, nennen sich „Put-Optionen“.
Einfache Derivate werden an der Börse gehandelt. Komplexere Derivate werden traditionell zwischen den beiden Vertragsparteien direkt - „over the counter“ (OTC) - gehandelt. Allerdings ändert sich dies, da Regierungen versuchen, den Derivate-Markt transparenter zu gestalten.
Im Vorfeld der Finanzkrise 2008 wurden Derivate zunehmend komplexer und margenstärker, mit Produkten wie Collateralised Debt Obligations und synthetischen Derivaten (auf Derivaten basierende Derivate). Viele Kommentatoren geben den Derivate-Experten, derivativen Produkten und der falschen Behauptung, dass Risiko kein Thema mehr sei, eine Mitschuld an der Krise.
