Innerhalb von Unternehmen ist Corporate Treasury für die Absicherung von Währungsrisiken zuständig.
In Investmentbanken konzentrieren sich Devisenhändler üblicherweise auf den Handel mit Devisenpaaren, wobei die häufigsten Paare folgende sind: US-Dollar und japanischer Yen, Euro und US-Dollar, US-Dollar und Schweizer Franken sowie Britisches Pfund und US-Dollar.
Ein großer Teil des Devisenhandels besteht aus dem sogenannten „Spot Trading“ (Kassageschäft), bei dem Devisen zur sofortigen Abwicklung gekauft und verkauft werden. Gleichermaßen umfasst der Devisenhandel Derivate wie Futures, bei denen Verträge ausgetauscht werden, in denen der Handel einer spezifischen Devise gegen eine andere zu einem festgelegten Preis und einem bestimmten Termin vereinbart werden, sowie Swaps und Optionen. Die meisten Devisenderivate sind hoch liquide und werden auch direkt zwischen einzelnen Käufern und Verkäufern „over the counter“ (OTC) gehandelt, ohne die Vermittlung von Börsen.
Ein Großteil des Devisenhandels findet digital unter Verwendung elektronischer Ausführungsplattformen statt, die es Banken und Firmenkunden ermöglichen, Devisen-Trades online zu handeln, ohne sie über einen menschlichen Trader platzieren zu müssen.
Sales-Funktionen und -Berufe im Bereich Devisen sind generell in verschiedene Kundenkategorien aufgeteilt. So konzentrieren sich Sales-Mitarbeiter auf den Verkauf von Devisenprodukten an Hedgefonds, Privatkunden, Asset Manager, Pensionsfonds oder Firmenkunden.
Hier finden Sie auch Stellen aus den Bereichen Geldmarkt. Geldmärkte sind Märkte für kurzfristige festverzinsliche Investitionen über eine Dauer von weniger als einem Jahr. Auf den Geldmärkten gehandelte Produkte sind äußerst liquide und können üblicherweise rasch gekauft und verkauft werden. Dies bedeutet, sie gelten als äußerst risikoarm und ähneln Bargeld. Sogenannte Geldmarktfonds investieren in Produkte wie Staatsanleihen. Allerdings können sich diese in einem Klima notleidender Staatsschulden als weit weniger sicher und liquide erweisen, als allgemein angenommen wird.
Berufe im Bereich Geldmärkte umfassen z. B. Stellen im Repo-Trading, bei denen Inhaber von Staatsanleihen diese an eine Gegenpartei weiterverkaufen, und zustimmen, diese zu einem festen Preis und einem bestimmten Datum zurückzukaufen, das nicht weiter als 30 Tage in der Zukunft liegt.
