Dieser Abschnitt umfasst sämtliche Stellenangebote aus dem Bereich Global Custody. Wie der Name nahe legt, besteht eine der primären Funktionen des Global Custody darin, die Vermögenswerte eines Kunden sicher zu verwahren, seien es Fondsgesellschaften, Private Equity-Firmen, Broker/Dealer oder Hedgefonds.
Traditionell gesehen beinhaltet dies die physische Verwahrung von Aktien- und Anleihenbeständen für Kunden, wobei diese heute elektronisch gespeichert werden. Global gerechnet beläuft sich der Wert der von Custodians verwahrten Vermögenswerte auf Billionen von Dollar. Custodians bearbeiten und bedienen auch Finanzprodukte und Portfolios im Auftrag von Kunden. Dabei kann es sich um das Inkasso von Einnahmen, die durch ein Produkt entstehen – z. B. Dividenden oder Zinsscheine – handeln oder um die Berechnung des Werts eines Fonds. Das Wertpapierverleihgeschäft ist ein weiterer Dienst, der von Global Custodians angeboten wird. Finanzdienstleistungsunternehmen müssen Wertpapiere ausleihen, um sich gegen fehlgeschlagene Trades abzusichern, ihren Tilgungsverpflichtungen nachzukommen oder einfach als Pfand, um andere Investitionsmöglichkeiten zu verfolgen. Ein Custodian agiert üblicherweise als Agent, der für Kunden geeignete Kreditnehmer findet, der die Verwaltung der Transaktion übernimmt und dabei für seine Dienste eine Gebühr kassiert. Prime Services sind eine weitere Schlüsselfunktion der meisten großen Custodians. Dazu zählen u.a. die Capital Introduction – der Versuch, Geldmittel potenziellen Investoren näher zu bringen –, Business Consulting – Beratung zu Markttrends sowie Bildung und Schulung. Zu den gängigsten Global Custody-Stellen zählen – insbesondere in Schlüsselzentren der Global Custody wie Luxemburg und Irland – Stellen im Fund Accounting und in der Fund Administration. Dies involviert die Betreuung der Bücher des Fonds, um sicherzustellen, dass wachsende Vermögen vollständig bewertet und genehmigt werden. Die Berechnung der Aktiva gegenüber den Verbindlichkeiten eines Fonds wird herangezogen, um seine Vermögensbewertung auszuarbeiten, eine Schlüsselqualifikation im Fund Accounting. Es gibt eine Reihe anderer Stellen im Bereich Global Custody, die sich auf Post-Trade-Aktivitäten beziehen. Dazu zählen Settlement – die reibungslose Bereitstellung der Wertpapiere an den Käufer und des Geldes an den Verkäufer; Reconciliations – Suche nach Diskrepanzen (oder Ausnahmen) bei Trades, um sicherzustellen, dass die gekauften Wertpapiere den Büchern des Kunden entsprechen; und Corporate Actions – die sicherstellen, dass Dividenden und Coupons rechtzeitig geliefert werden. Bei Global Custody handelt es sich um einen wettbewerbsintensiven Markt, in dem viele Sales-Stellen angeboten werden, um Geschäfte dazuzugewinnen. Diese Stellen sind eine Kombination aus Sales und Marketing und die Berufsbezeichnung kann je nach dem Unternehmen Business Development, Kundenbeziehungsmanagement oder einfach Sales Manager lauten. Technologie ist auch äußerst wichtig für Global Custodians. Zum Beispiel wird eine Menge Geld für Systeme ausgegeben, die die durchgehende Verarbeitung ermöglichen, bei der die gesamte Transaktion elektronisch und ohne Bedarf an wiederholter Eingabe oder manueller Intervention abgewickelt wird. Auch einige der einfacheren Berechnungen können automatisiert werden. Daher beschäftigen Custodians auch eine umfangreiche Zahl an IT-Experten zur Entwicklung und Betreuung dieser Systeme.
