Beide Funktionen (sowie die der internen M&A-Berater) erfordern die Fähigkeit, einen Geschäftsplan zu konzipieren und umzusetzen, sowie Kenntnisse in Finanzmodellierung. Die Mitarbeiter haben vormals oft bei Investment Banken oder im strategischen Consulting gearbeitet.
Corporates stellen auch Finanzfachkräfte als Treasurer ein, die bei der Verwaltung ihres Cashflows helfen. Manche Unternehmen unterhalten einen unternehmensinternen Venture Capital Fonds zur Investition in interessante Projekte, die zur zukünftigen Entwicklung ihres Geschäfts beitragen können (bekannt als „Corporate Venturing“). Personen mit Erfahrung in den Bereichen Venture Capital, Private Equity und Buchhaltung werden hierfür benötigt.
