Hier finden Sie sämtliche Stellenangebote aus dem M&A-Bereich (Fusionen und Übernahmen) und Investment Banking. Dabei wird der Begriff „Investment Banking“ unterschiedlich ausgelegt. Im allgemeinsten Sinne umfasst er alle Bereiche einer Investmentbank – von Verkauf und Trading über Kapitalmärkte bis hin zu Corporate Finance und M&A, Risk, Compliance und Operations. Er kann auch als Kapitalmärkte bzw. M&A interpretiert werden. Hier definieren wir Stellenangebote relativ eng: als M&A, jedoch mit Blick auf die erforderliche Finanzierung und Infrastruktur, um ein M&A-Geschäft zu verwirklichen.
Wie der Name bereits nahelegt, involviert ein Beruf im Bereich M&A die Beratung von Unternehmen zu Fusionen (bei denen zwei Unternehmen auf gleichberechtigter Basis zusammengelegt werden) und Übernahmen (bei denen eine Firma eine andere teilweise oder ganz übernimmt).
Auf dem M&A-Markt gibt es recht unterschiedliche Player. Die größten Investmentbanken bieten Beratung und wickeln M&A-Deals im Wert von 100 Mio. US-Dollar oder mehr ab. Kleinere Deals werden generell von Beratungs-Boutiquen oder von den Big 4 (und anderen) Wirtschaftsprüfungsunternehmen betreut.
Die Karriereleiter in M&A ist relativ geradlinig. Üblicherweise beginnt man als Investment Analyst, nach drei Jahren wird man dann zum Associate befördert (wiederum für drei Jahre), danach zum Vice Pesident, Director und Managing Director – obwohl die Berufsbezeichnungen je nach Bank anders lauten können. Die meisten M&A-Karrieren konzentrieren sich auf einen bestimmten Sektor, z. B. Verbraucher, Finanzdienstleister, Öl und Gas, Technologie, Medien und Telekommunikation.
Senior M&A-Banker verbringen viel Zeit mit der Pflege von Beziehungen zu potenziellen Kunden und mit der Origination von Geschäften. Traditionell gesehen geht es bei M&A um die Beratung von Kunden zu potenziellen Zielunternehmen und zur Dynamik eines M&A-Deals. Zunehmend sind Senior Deal Originators bei Investmentbanken „Relationship“-Experten, die Kunden zu einer breiten Auswahl an Produkten beraten sowie zu der für einen Deal erforderlichen Finanzierung.
Auf Junior Analyst-Ebene geht es bei M&A um Tabellenkalkulation, Marketingdokumente und finanzielle Modelle. Junior M&A-Banker nehmen selten an Kundenbesprechungen teil. Vielmehr sind sie mit der Bewertung der Finanzinformationen von Zielunternehmen und mit der Erstellung von sogenannten Pitch Books beschäftigt. Dabei handelt es sich um Marketingdokumente, mit denen die Banken Kunden bestimmte Transaktionen vorschlagen.
Während Analysten auf der untersten Sprosse der Karriereleiter in M&A stehen, rangieren auch die Associates noch relativ niedrig. Der Hauptunterschied besteht darin, dass M&A-Associates etwas mehr Verantwortung über Transaktionen und Projekte übernehmen. Sie übertragen auch einige ihrer Aufgaben an die Junior Analysten.
